Most photographers don’t fail because they lack talent. They fail because no one ever taught them how to run a business. We love meeting and chatting with other photographers and what they are up to, and the wonderful shoots they done and the places they’ve travelled to. And we often hear about the same problems. We hear about it time and time again. Incredible photographers with a great eye, a strong portfolio, and real passion… but they’re undercharging, struggling to find consistent work, or burning out trying to do everything alone. We know this through real experience! We built our photography business the hard way. Trial and error. Missed opportunities. Pricing mistakes. Using marketing channels that didn’t fit with our brand. Saying yes to the wrong clients. Learning lessons we wish someone had just sat us down and explained.
We did receive business advice, but the people were not photographers and didn’t understand the unique problems that sometimes face our industry. What we wanted was the same as many other photographers - someone who understood the process of business, combined with the expertise in branding and marketing, and bringing it all together in a compelling way that engages with the right clients. And that’s the real reason we created the “Astute Business Creator” course. So that YOU can become a "Photography Hero". Not because the world needs more photographers. It already has plenty. But because the world needs more photographers who actually succeed and deliver results that are important and matter to their clients. A bit about us:- Bergit comes from an International Business background and holds a Master’s Degree in that subject, but she thought she had left that world behind! I came from film studios and darkrooms and worked in London’s advertising industry. Both of us had the essential skills to build our vision, and yet we overlooked the things that make businesses successful!
That’s why we want to help others - and why we produced this course. This 12-week course is everything we wish we had when we started. It’s not about the latest gear, editing presets, or chasing trends. It’s about building something sustainable. A business that supports your life, not one that quietly drains it. Because information alone doesn’t change anything. Support does. Between us, we’ve built and sustained a successful photography business over many years. Alongside that, we’ve trained and mentored others, and gained formal qualifications in Business, Marketing, Copywriting, Coaching and Mentoring.
So this isn’t theory. It’s not guesswork. It’s what actually works in the real world, shared honestly. Twelve weekly emails, with explanatory videos, articles, spreadsheets and workbooks that you work through and keep. They all build into a complete plan for YOUR business that works around what you want to do and what you are best at. And before launching this course, we tested it with groups of photographers and educators. We wanted to make sure the information was not only useful, but invaluable. And that it was delivered in an accessible way.
